Penumbra is a leading Scottish voluntary organisation providing a range of recovery focused mental health services. We provide an extensive range of services for adults and young people.

You must have previous management experience, preferably in a mental health setting of supervising, leading and motivating staff. A relevant professional or academic qualification in mental health is essential. You should be dynamic, have excellent organisational skills and be able to work flexible hours. On call duties will be required on a rota basis.

Job Title: Support Manager (Maternity Cover)

Responsible To: Area Manager

Salary: £22,582 to £25,528 (Point 29 to 33), pro rata for part-time
employees

Working Hours: 36.25 (Full Time) flexible according to contract terms.

Special Conditions: Hours may include evenings, weekends and sleepovers.
Local travel
Paging service on rata basis

Job Summary

To manage, support and supervise staff to ensure the needs of clients are met and the service provided is run effectively.

Responsibilities

· Take a lead role in the referral/selection process of clients.
· Develop and implement appropriate support plans for all clients ensuring that they are involved in decisions about their own support.
· Establish productive working relationships with other professionals involved in the support of clients.
· Ensure effective recruitment, selection, and induction of new staff.
· Ensure the effective management of existing staff including the management of work practice, conduct and absence along with regular supervision, support and the identification of training needs.
· Ensure that staff are adequately deployed to meet the support needs of clients.
· Ensure that the financial management of the project meets the support needs of clients according to agreed budgets.
· Ensure that all financial and other records are maintained accurately, and that all reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.

Education/ Qualifications/ Training Essential · A relevant professional qualification
Experience Essential· Previous management experience, preferably in a mental health setting· Experience in supervising, leading and motivating a staff team Desirable · Experience of health and safety requirements· Experience in recruitment and induction of staff.· Experience of managing budgets
Skills and attributes Essential· Required to meet the “fit person” requirements of local authority.· Understanding/experience of implementing and reviewing support/care plans for service users· Ability to work cooperatively and liaise with other professionals both internally and externally· Ability to get on well with people exercising tact and diplomacy.· Ability to adapt and work creatively in a changing environment.· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.· Ability to lead a team and also to work as part of a teamDesirable· Awareness of Community Care legislation.· Financial management skills
