Job Title: Support Worker, Macduff Supported Living Service
Responsible To: Support Manager
Salary: £15,357 - £16,713 (Point 15 to 19), pro rata for part-time
employees
Working Hours: 21.75 (Full Time) flexible according to contract terms.
Leave: 33 days per annum including public holidays pro rata for part-time employees
Special Conditions: Rota will include regular evenings and weekends.
Shift patterns will include sleepovers and some wakened night duty
Job Summary
To enable service users to establish and maintain a meaningful and fulfilling life in the community, through tenancy support.
Responsibilities
1. To establish a supportive relationship with each service user, enabling them to maximise their own resources in order to improve their quality of life.
2. To deliver support as part of a support plan agreed with the service user, the referring agency, and Penumbra.
3. To assist with personal care when required.
4. To be flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of the service users and the organisation, within the agreed criteria.
5. To work in cooperation with other members of the Support Team, and staff from other agencies.
6. To participate in training activities and meetings as required.
7. To uphold Penumbra’s policies and procedures and maintain best practices while observing the SSSC’s Codes of Practice.
8. To be responsible for maintaining the relevant systems of documentation.
9. To take personal responsibility for Health and Safety including lone working.
10. To be accountable to line management for conduct and performance, and for any other duties that may be appropriately delegated.
Employee Specification – Support Worker
Education/ Qualifications/ Training Essential · Good Level of educational attainment Desirable· SVQ3 or equivalent (or ability to achieve this level of qualification)· An interest in continuing professional and personal development
Experience Essential· Experience of being in a supportive and enabling role Desirable · Awareness of person-centred support planning · Experience of working in the mental health field · Understanding of Recovery
Skills and attributes Essential· Good interpersonal and team-working skills· Ability and willingness to reflect on work practice and be open to constructive feedback· Ability to work in an enabling and creative way· Willingness to support people with personal care needs· Ability to manage stress and to plan and prioritise workload· Ability to carry out all practical tasks associated with maintaining a tenancy including budgeting
