    Health and Safety Consultantrequired for Glasgow

    Our client are one of the largest suppliers of Gas and Electricity in the UK. They have a constantly expanding network across the country and they are looking to be the UK's leading network operator. our client focus on three main areas which are transmission & distribution through energy networks, generation and supply through energy wholesale and gas storage.



    The HS Consultant will lead on:

    - Process and Behavioural safety systems

    - HS management systems (OHSAS 18001)

    - HS IT systems for information management

    - Group Electrical/Mechanical Safety Rules (dependant on experience)



    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide assurance that group HS management systems are delivering required performance.

    Provide expert lead in analysis, problem solving, development and implementation of HS systems appropriate for group operational requirements.

    Participate in Group HS Standards Assessments through continual assessment process and presentation of annual business assessment reports.

    Provide expert advice/interpretation of Group HS Standards and Rules.

    Ensure that recommendations of Panels of Inquiry are implemented.

    Review the effectiveness of HS systems to minimise potential business HS risks.

    Where improvements to HS controls are identified, provide professional support to business divisions to achieve solutions.

    Contribute fully to the Group HS team in developing the Operating Plan and delivery against collective and individual objectives.

    Contribute to the professional development of the team and individuals by sharing knowledge and experience to benefit all.

    Engage with business divisions to facilitate exchange and adoption of best HS practices.





    Experience

    Professional qualification in Engineering/Science or Equivalent

    NEBOSH Diploma/HS Degree/ Qualification ratified by IOSH

    Membership of IOSH and Registered for CPD to achieve/maintain Chartered Status

    Knowledge of management systems for HS e.g. OHSAS 18001, Process Safety and Behavioural Safety

    Comprehensive knowledge of UK HS legislation and regulatory framework

    Proven ability in applying HS skills in risk assessment, evaluation and control

    Knowledge and experience in risk management techniques

    Experience in HS auditing

    Degree in Science/Engineering or Equivalent

    Additional relevant qualifications related to HS systems
