Overview
Design Engineer based in Badentoy Avenue, Portlethen (likely to be December on), possibly Rubislaw Terrace in short term.
Mechanical Engineering background
Ideally downhole tools experience
Would suit junior/graduate engineer looking to make next step up
Main responsibilities
Create, check and approve drawings, calculations, test procedures, test reports, assembly procedures,
technical units and data sheets.
Carry out such duties aso
Preparation of design packages for performance of design review.
Development of test procedures and carrying out test programmes.
Participation in field running procedures and reports.
Assembly of equipment and participate on field jobs.
Assist in the maintenance of technical library.
Assist in the creation of and update of all product procedures.
Assist in creation new product part numbers.
Assist in creation of new design requests.
Monitor data integrity of all Company products and provide document control to all product technical data.
Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
Apply the Company - and where appropriate, the Clients - Health, Safety, Environment Policy and Safety
Management Systems.
Ensure that all Quality and operational procedures and processes as identified in the company Management
Systems are adhered to at all times.
ESSENTIAL
A minimum of an HND in Mechanical Engineering or related subject.
Possess a good level of education of at least SCE standard grades in Mathematics and English.
CAD/Engineering drawing
PREFERRED
Pro E or Solid Works experience.
Offshore certificate
Competence and Aptitude
ESSENTIAL
Must possess at least 3 years relevant experience in design or engineering role ideally within an oilfield equipment manufacturing environment.
Must have demonstrated a good knowledge of Rig system, Completions, Production, Drilling Operations and understand down-hole hydraulics.
Must have good communication skills, along with the ability to work in a team environment.
Must have proven technical problem solving ability.
Must have demonstrated basic keyboard skills and a working knowledge of CAD and other computer systems.
Must have demonstrated an ability to effectively utilise dedicated resources and the ability to plan, control and take responsibility for work.
PREFERRED
Have knowledge of metallic and elastomeric materials technology
Have relevant experience in FEA
Demonstrate a good knowledge of 3D cad systems
Personal Qualities
Be able to identify and implement improvements as appropriate.
Be a team player and be able to work under own initiative with good communication skills both verbal and written.
