Working in a small multi-disciplined group of personnel responsible for the world-wide supply of Intervention and Workover Control Systems, the Design Engineer will be required to undertake the following duties:-
Quotations
Assist with the preparation of quotations for IWOCS world-wide. Review of customer specifications, documents and drawings to prepare Company Design Documents that will be issued to specialist vendors for pricing to manufacture and test. Company Design Documents are to be prepared to ensure that the customers requirements are fully satisfied, and that the knowledge gained from previous systems is incorporated to ensure the Company product is of high quality, highly reliable, and cost effective. At the quotation stage, the Design Engineer must ensure that all necessary preliminary system analyses are performed to ensure minimum risks to Company for the technical proposal. During the quotation process will respond to any technical clarifications received, advise of any likely commercial implications, and, if necessary, attend clarification meetings.
Upon receipt of vendors quotations, will be involved in the technical review and selection of preferred vendors.
Bid Award
Will review customers latest issue of specifications, documents and drawings, together with any technical clarifications raised during the bid evaluation process, and will ensure that the Company Design Documents are revised to reflect all agreed changes. Will be involved in technical discussions with selected vendors to ensure that they are aware of any technical changes that occurred during the bid evaluation phase, and, along with the procurement specialist, ensure that any commercial implications are resolved.
Project Execution
To assist and/or perform the planning, organizing, controlling and implementation of projects as defined by the IWOCS Business Unit Manager to produce the desired results within time, cost and quality as specified in the Company Design Documents and project scope. In conjunction with selected vendors, develop a realistic plan for all items of equipment being supplied, together with all test requirements, from award of contract until final delivery to the defined site. Will act as the technical focal point with selected vendors for all technical matters, and will take an active part in the management of Variation Orders between the vendor and the customer.
Will become an active member of the project team and support the appointed Company Project Manager during the project execution phase. Will generate/assist in the progress reports to the agreed project timescales for the IWOCS.
In conjunction with other members of the IWOCS Business Unit, will continually monitor the project plan, identify critical items and activities having impact on the project schedule that require special attention and take action to resolve.
