Assistant Site Manager/Senior Engineer (Mining/Quarrying)

Crossgates, Fife

£30,000 - £35,000 plus Company Car & Bonus

Our client are the UK's third largest producer of coal, providing coal principally to the electricity supply industry and domestic coal markets, they operate a number of surface mine sites and land remediation projects across the UK.

Following recent developments they are looking to expand their team by appointing an Assistant Site Manager/Senior Engineer at their Surface Mine in Crossgates, Fife. To apply, candidates must have previous experience of working in a mine/quarrying environment.

The post holder will assist the Site Manager in the supervision and management of all day to day activities at the site, in accordance with the Quarries Regulations 1999. Leading Site Engineers through training, you will be involved in the planning of operations into and beyond the next reporting year.

You will be expected to oversee all aspects of surveying, calculation and engineering design work to plan and monitor void design, backfill, coal recoveries, blasting and working ratios. As part of the management team, you will also be expected to promote high standards of health and safety whilst monitoring and controlling environmental compliance at all times.

The successful candidate must have experience of working in a mine/quarrying environment and should have a HNC/D or equivalent in civil engineering. This role requires an aptitude in field based work, team work, excellent communication skills and a propensity for promoting high standards of compliance. You should be qualified at a minimum of NEBOSH Certificate level or be willing to work towards this qualification and will be fully conversant with the reporting duties associated with the demands of this role.
