Vacancy Location: Glasgow
Full Description:
The Company

Our client is a privately owned business consisting of five national businesses: Living Space, Construction, Interiors and Developments. As one of the UKs largest building contractors they employ around 1700 people and in 2006 had a turnover of £863m. They were recognised as an Investor in People in 2005 and have been ranked by the BITC as one of the Top 100 companies in the UK with regard to corporate responsibility.

In 2005 our client brought their Living Space division to Glasgow and have since been working closely with the GHA on their refurbishment programme. This has been a huge success and so they are now branching out into new build affordable homes. This growth has brought about an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager who will be the leader of this new branch and who will be given the responsibility to grow it in head count and turnover.

It is essential that you either have a HND or BSC in Quantity Surveyor and minimum 4 years experience in the UK Construction Industry as a Quantity Surveyor. It is also key that the successful candidate will have first class communication skills and knowledge and understanding of building contracts and construction.

Job Profile

The Project Surveyor will be accountable for all pre and post contract aspects of surveying and commercial site functions such as:

- commercial control of subcontract packages
- maximisation of value recovery, cost control and cash management
- preparation of financial reports
- production of final accounts
- subcontract and material orders
- developing commerciality of the site team

The successful candidate will be very self motivated, enthusiastic and have a proven track record working with New Build Projects, preferably within the residential development sector. Candidates for this post will work as part off a team and will have demonstrable experience of completing projects on time, within budget and to the quality required.

In today's increasingly demanding and changing construction market our client are keen to ensure that they keep their employees with them. In return for enthusiasm and commitment, staff are rewarded with one of the best packages in the industry as well as a complete career plan - the latter being even more evident in Scotland with the growth plans that are already in place.
