| THE ROLE Criminal Justice Social Worker Location: South West Scotland Salary:£16 - 22 per hour Benefits Package: Car allowance Reporting to: Operations Manager THE COMPANY First People Care Solutions are currently recruiting for two qualified and experienced Criminal Justice Social Workers for a reputable local authority in South West Scotland. This specific position requires you to use professional social work skills to develop and provide supervisory, preventative, rehabilitative and support services for offender related client groups. Undertaking the range of statutory requirements for which the Social Services Department is responsible in relation to the Courts, offenders and as defined by National Objectives and Standards. Main duties include: Supervise offenders and work with their families. Make assessments of the services needed to assist offenders to lead law abiding lives. Prepare Social Enquiry and other related reports. Participate and work as part of a team in planning the delivery of an effective service. Contribute to multi-agency initiatives in the assessment and management of offender risk. Maintain concise, relevant and up-to-date case records. Organise and prioritise administrative work. Participate in formal consultation/supervision sessions and team meeting as required to review practice and performance in conjunction with line managers. Undertake such training programmes as may assist departmental and personal development. Network with outside agencies and the local community in respect of Criminal Justice Services as required. Deliver, monitor and evaluate planned programmes of work with offenders. Provide Court based Social Work Services. Participate in the generic social work Emergency Duty Service as required by the Chief Social Work Officer. EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Candidates should possess a recognised professional qualification in Social Work and must be registered with the SSSC( Scottish Social Services Council) or GSCC and have a recent criminal history check, although this can be undertaken through our agency. Applicants ideally will have UK-based practical experience although not essential. Candidates should also deploy a range of skills including: Interviewing and investigation Analysis and assessment Communication Planning Decision making Evaluation and review Creation and purposeful use of relationships Advocacy Use of Technology Organisational skills Applicants should be well informed about the range of services and resources available within Social Services, other agencies and in the community, in relation to offenders, that can be mobilised and deployed to the benefit of the client and the community. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Criminal Law and Practice.
