FINANCE ASSISTANT
Job Description

Job Title: Finance Assistant

Responsible To: Finance Manager

Salary: £17,609 to £20,518 (Point 22 to 27)

Working Hours: 36.25 (Full Time)

Leave: 33 days per annum including public holidays

Special Conditions: No special conditions apply


Job Summary

A wide-ranging and expanding role including responsibility for all bank and cash transactions (incorporating monthly bank reconciliations), payment of staff expenses, administration of local project accounts, maintenance of cash and bank records, preparation of subsidiary company management accounts, assistance with internal audit, month end journals and reconciliations.


Responsibilities


1. Maintaining all Head Office bank and cash records including banking all receipts and making all payments by BACS, cheque etc.

2. Preparing monthly bank reconciliations of all Head Office bank accounts

3. Monitoring and initiating daily movements of funds between bank accounts

4. Checking, coding recording and settling staff expenses

5. Generating and processing various month-end journals

6. Administering local project accounts, including monthly reconciliations of control accounts

7. Providing support and assistance to administrators of local project accounts

8. Generating and processing all monthly journals for Respite Care subsidiary – and preparing monthly management accounts

9. Ensuring monthly finance timetables are achieved

10. Undertake any other duties as required by the line manager

11. Assisting in the development of Penumbra’s internal audit function


Employee Specification – Financial Management Assistant

Education/ Qualifications/ Training Essential · Good Level of educational attainment DesirableHigher / A Level grades in relevant subjects
Experience Essential· Computer skills in numerate / literate administrative office environment · Experience of computerised finance systemDesirable · Experience of finance work in the voluntary sector
Skills and attributes Essential· Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping · Well organised and able to prioritise a demanding workloadDesirable· Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing packages.
Personal qualities Essential· Effective communicator and team player· Commitment to accuracy · Able to cope with changing and expanding role – and desire to be involved in the processDesirable· Ability to set and achieve work goals and targets with minimal supervision.· Ability to work effectively with non-finance staff
