Full Description:
Health & Safety Advisor based from the Edinburgh office of a Voluntary organisation.
To be directly responsible for:
Producing an annual Health and Safety Plan and Programme
Providing regular updates on the progress and achievements with respect to the Health and Safety Plan paying particular attention to issues requiring action
Promoting a Positive Health and Safety culture and an open attitude to Health and Safety issues, encouraging staff to identify and report hazards so that every one can contribute to creating and maintaining a safe working environment
Developing and implementing effective communication systems that promote a dialogue with staff on all H&S matters
Carrying out investigations into H&S incidents and to work in co-operation with colleagues by:
Leading the development and review of H&S strategy
Developing and implementing H&S reviews, performance monitoring and audit systems
Developing and implementing H&S policies and procedures to manage the risks associated with premises and activities
Maintaining individual and organisational competence in H&S, providing support and advice
Identifying and supporting others in the assessment and evaluation of H&S risks
Devising and implementing action plans to correct any negative trends and implementing H&S control measures

Learning and Development:
With regards to H&S, identify learning needs and liaise with Learning and Development in relation to the design and delivery of learning programmes

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Ideally you will have a background in the voluntary sector or public sector or have worked within a multi site organisation. Ability to work independently and organise own work to achieve targets
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety required.
