Full Description:
Our client is a leading construction company dealing mainly in civil engineering, utilities, general construction and commercial. With an annual turnover of approximately £160 million, they take pride in delivering first-class service to a diverse client base.

They have an immediate requirement for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to cover Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England. You will hold a degree in a technical or engineering discipline with preference being given to specific construction disciplines. You will be IOSH qualified preferably to NEBOSH diploma level and have at least 5 years experience in auditing and inspecting construction sites. A good working knowledge of all current legislation in relation to construction health and safety is essential. You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have a willingness to develop effective health and safety solutions with site staff, as required.

The main duties of the role will be

Investigate and report on accidents, dangerous occurrences, ill health and near misses. Advise and assist site staff on all aspects of H&S management/legislation with knowledge of ISO 18001. Implement the Company's H&S Safety Improvement Plan and source, plan and deliver H&S safety training as required. Preparation of Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans for Scottish sites with assistance from contract staff. Assessment of sub contractors competence and review of their method statements and risk assessments. Assist in H&S safety aspects of tender submissions and attend and contribute to H&S meetings at site, regional and Company level. Contribute to health and safety initiatives in the Company and prepare and distribute H&S alerts as required.
