Job Description

Job Title: Services Manager

Responsible To: Area Manager

Responsible For: Support Managers

Salary: £25,630 to £28,437 (Point 34 to 38), pro rata for part-time employees

Working Hours: 36.25 (Full Time) flexible according to contract terms.

Leave: 38 days per annum including public holidays pro rata for part-time employees

Special Conditions: Hours may include evenings, weekends.
Local travel
Paging service on rota basis


Job Summary

To work in collaboration with the Area Manager, Support Managers and other relevant personnel in order to ensure a high standard of service delivery.


Responsibilities

· To ensure the efficient and effective use of resources including staff, finance and administration.
· To promote the practical implications of a recovery and person-centred approach to service delivery.
· To assist in the development and maintenance of systems used in the evaluation of existing services
· To ensure that services comply with policies & procedures of the organisation.
· To ensure services are managed in accordance with Care Commission standards.
· To ensure that services funded by Supporting People are managed in accordance with their requirements.
· To provide regular support & supervision to identified Support Managers.
· To attend meetings as required
· To co-ordinate the identification of staff training needs and liaise with HR over the delivery of staff training.
· Where necessary to co-ordinate the recruitment and selection of staff and participate in the interview process.
· To participate in budget planning and the monitoring of the expenditure of identified services.
· To liaise with other agencies and to represent Penumbra as required.
· To deputise as required for the Area Manager.
· To undertake other tasks as identified by the Area Manager, and to accept flexibility in approach and tasks as a requirement of the post.
· To ensure that all appropriate Health and Safety and lone working policies and procedures are implemented and monitored.

Employee Specification – Services Manager

Education/ Qualifications/ Training Desirable · A relevant professional qualification

Experience

Essential· At least 3 years experience of managing the provision of person-centred services, preferably in a mental health setting · Experience in supervising, leading and motivating a staff team

Desirable ·Experience of health and safety requirements· Experience in recruitment and induction of staff.· Experience of managing budgets
·Knowledge of issues related to Alcohol Related Brain
Damage and homelessness

Skills and attributes

Essential
·Awareness of current issues in community mental health care in Scotland
·Understanding/experience of theories and methodologies of recovery and person-centred support.
·Excellent keyboard and IT skills.
·Ability to design, implement and sustain, systems of documentation, reporting, and programme evaluation.
·Financial management skills.
·Ability to think and act strategically

Desirable
·Awareness of Community Care legislation.
·Financial management skills
·Ability to use IT software particularly Word and Outlook Express

Essential
·Ability to work co-operatively and liaise with other professionals both internally and externally
·Ability to exercising tact and diplomacy with a wide range of people.
·Ability to be innovative and resourceful in a changing environment.
