Location: Glasgow
Salary: Up to £35K depending on experience

THE ROLE

We are recruiting for an experienced Database Administrator for our client based in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will need to be experienced in Oracle and SQL DBA, through several versions ideally gained in a financial institution or equivalently busy production support environment. You must be self-motivated, responsible, and confident and have the ability to multi task and prioritize under often changing and challenging workloads. You must have the ability to follow standards and procedures, but have the confidence to proactively challenge where appropriate. You must be a good team player willing to share information, knowledge and ideas amongst fellow DBAs / SAs and Unix / DBA team managers.

The contracted hours are 37.5 per week, although in practice the successful candidate may be expected to work additional hours, dependant on workload. There may also be occasions where weekend scheduled work and support will be required.


EXPERIENCE

Essential

Experience of at least 2 major projects working in a production environment
Experience of Oracle 9i, 10g and 11g on a variety of platforms.
Experience of SQL Server 2000, 2005
Expertise with DTS and SSIS
Previous experience of installs, upgrades, migrations and patching
Strong performance tuning skills.
Solid backup and recovery experience.
Exposure to High availability and/or Disaster recovery solutions would be beneficial.

Desirable

Replication Experience including Advanced Replication and Streams
Knowledge of Quest Tools - Foglight, Quest Central

SKILLS

Proven experience as a Oracle / SQL Database Administrator
