New vacancy for Bid Team Senior Quantity Surveyor, officebased inEdinburgh.Our clienthas proven and extensive civil engineering and project management skills, delivering engineering excellence through cost-efficient, client focused solutions from minor works through to major infrastructure projects. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to jointheir Bid Team in Edinburgh. You will be performing the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Tendering/Estimating Department. The main function of this role is to produce a comprehensive Bill of Quantities from Engineers / Architects drawings to allow the project estimator to price the tender. To achieve this, the following procedures are carried out.
- Upon receipt of the tender documents you will attend a campaign meeting to discuss strategy, resources and meet the bid team.
- Review tender documents and formulate the structure of the BoQ to comply with the Clients Tender Sum Analysis to incorporate into the estimators CANDY estimating system.
- The proprietary software package used for taking off quantities is Masterbill Elite.
- Two methods of taking off used are scaling from paper drawings or digitally from CAD drawings using QSCad.
- Methods of Measurement used are Highways, CMM3 and to a lesser extent SMM7. A working knowledge of all three is ideally needed. You will communicate within the bid team and a knowledge of ICE and NEC forms of Contract is needed for this role. You should be Computer literate and ideally have an HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering / Quantity Surveyingalthough this is not essential.
