THE ROLE
Interview prospective clients and assess for suitability for support
Complete full assessment, develop action plan and participate in the review process
Help with household tasks and shopping
Escort clients to appointments
Arrange specific specialist help
Encourage clients to remain medicated where appropriate
Write up files and prepare reports and correspondence
Attend staff meetings
Deal with all appropriate forms and assist clients in completing forms
Support clients with budgeting and housing related issues
Provide general support on drug and alcohol issues
Provide basic / general training on life and social skills
Ensure client access to appropriate DSS benefits
Location: West Lothian
Salary:£8.00 - £9.50 per hour depending on experience
Duration:6-8 weeks initially
THE COMPANY
Our client is currently recruiting for 3 Housing Support Workers to provide appropriate support to individuals in their own homes, who experience difficulties with drugs and alcohol, in the West Lothian area.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Current driving licence & Car is essential
Experience of working with vulnerable and homeless people in a community setting
An understanding of mental health issues, drug and alcohol addiction problems and chaotic behaviour
Ability to prioritise & work under pressure
Ability to maintain clear & accurate records
Have an SVQ level 3 in Care/Promoting Independence or equivalent qualification or be willing to work towards this
Previous experience and knowledge of the Housing Scotland Act and housing benefits system would also be highly desirable
